Inspiration

Finding inspiration in all the little things I see and do.

To end August sweetly, here’s a list of simple, sometimes silly things, that I find inspiring. Maybe you can try them out and have a little fun:

Watching Sci-Fi/Fantasy Nostalgic Movies (Like The Fifth Element!)

The color pink (Buy a Neon Pink color pencil, draw a smiley face, then color it in. You’ll thank me later.)

Hot Chocolate (Out of the box, Swiss chocolate is yummy! Put in a couple marshmallows if you feel like it. Sip, Sip!)

Polaroids (I like sticking them in a journal and writing how I feel beside it in glitter ink)

Shoes with bows on them (Preferably pink. Wear them with sparkly tights so you can pretend you’re in another galaxy. I highly recommend standing outside in the sun.)

A Box of Crayola: (I will draw tons of hearts and color them with my crayons, when I am sad, thank you very much.)

Bead Making (DIY some wearable jewelry, give it a name like it’s part of a collection. You can try a bead making workshop with a fairy here!)

Rearranging My Bookshelf (I could do it according to size or genre or color. Because how dare you think I’d put Twilight next to Princess Academy :p)

Watching Pink Panther (Enough said. Comedy King.)

Taking a walk alone, listening to groovy disco music (I suggest Tiffany. *cue music* I think we’re aloooone now. Doesn’t seem to beeee any one around.)

Browsing the toy aisle of your local supermarket (nothing quite like giggling over wearable wings and windmill dollhouses)

On The Beach in the Evening (I love sand between my toes!)

Bedroom Dance Club (Dim those lights. Vibe with nothing but you and the music.)

Wake up at 5am, just for one day (Do whatever you want: Journal, dance, watch tv, cry. Be the only one awake!)

Make up a dance routine to your favorite musical soundtrack

Cover your water bottle with cute stickers (good vibes every time you take a drink)

DIY Sewing colorful buttons on clothes

Buy a star sticker sheet, then reward yourself with a star on your paper to-do list, each time you complete something. (our elementary professors knew what was up. Your mind will think: OMG, I’M A STAR! As it should.)

Write a silly poem dedicated to your summer (Like this: “Oh, Summer why did you have to go? Leaving me in all this woe? You were hot and fun, now you’ve upped and gone. I’ll miss how chill you are. Thank you so much, Summer, for being a star.” See what I did there?)

Solo-Karaoke (Go to YouTube and type in your favorite song w/lyrics. You will not be disappointed.)

Decorate an empty old notebook in your current aesthetic

*Create a Feel Better Soon package for yourself to use when you’re sad. (Include all of your favorite snacks, quotes, tiny plushies, knick knacks, song recommendations, and movie watch list)

Read a book you used to read all the time when you were little. (Write a private review for yourself—ramble about what moved you, stressful plot points, and those characters who are still the loves of your life.)

*Plan a faux day-out in your favorite fictional world (Imagine that you could teleport there. You know you want to!). Create an itinerary for the whole day: complete with plot points, surprise character meet ups, etc.

PS: I’ve starred the ones I haven’t tried yet!

🌟

This fairy believes that inspiration can be found in any little thing, especially the things we enjoy.

Watching cartoons can inspire a new story idea. Singing your favorite song can uplift your heart and motivate you to finally do the laundry. And dancing alone in your room, well, that gives you a sense of freedom—and feeling free leads to hopeful, happier thoughts.

I have found that Inspiration is not something I need to wait for. It’s a natural sentiment that follows me everywhere I go in life.

I just have to pay attention.

xx Anastasia
